The Australian Brushware Corporation group of companies, incorporating DIY Resolutions Pty Ltd, are a well establish ed importer, distributor and manufacturer of well known brands including Monarch paint brushes, accessories and FLATPAX (Kaboodle) – a range of DIY modular flat packed storage products for kitchens, laundries and bathrooms, wardrobes and office furniture. It supplies Australia’s leading retailers and currently has warehouse and distribution facilities in Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and is due to open a new facility shortly in New South Wales.

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Inventory Controller, preferably with relevant qualifications in either: Business Management, Logistics or Inventory Management to apply their strong leadership skills and proven Inventory Management, Forecasting and Purchasing experience, from within a FMCG, Wholesale, Importing, Warehouse & Distribution, Hardware, Cabinetry or related industries, to manage our Inventory team.
You will initially be based at our Campbellfield office before relocation to our Sales and Marketing office in Hawthorn during mid 2012. There will be an ongoing requirement to travel between our offices in Campbellfield and Hawthorn.
The position will suit a self motivated professional seeking both a strategic and ‘hands on’ role, with strong business acumen, problem solving, relationship building skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced team environment, with a range of key stakeholders, including Sales & Marketing, Operations and overseas suppliers in China.
Reporting to the Group Operations Manager, you will undertake a key role, overseeing and providing ‘hands on’ support to the Inventory team. Your key challenges include:
- Effectively plan, forecast and purchase inventory according to each business group – DIY and Australian Brushware brands and each warehouse facility, nationally;
- Analyse and maintain optimum stock holdings to ensure the timely and constant supply of inventory to our warehouse facilities nationally, to meet customer KPI’s and maintain sales growth;
- Regularly review reporting systems and work with key stakeholders to implement improvements to ensure accuracy of inventory holdings and address inventory issues;
- Monitor and analyse business and market performance and trends to ensure informed decisions are implemented regarding projected inventory requirements eg. Product promotions and potential supply issues. Alert key stakeholders and recommend strategies and follow up corrective action required to minimise stock shortages and out of stocks;
- Review, report and develop action plans in conjunction with key stakeholders to resolve slow moving, discontinued and obsolete inventory;
- Analyse supplier performance including the tracking of orders, order changes and ensure the timely communication to the business;
- Monitor and oversee the effectiveness of imported product, including the timely receipt of containers, consolidation of orders and control of demurrage costs; and
- Mentor and further develop employee skills within the inventory team and provide individual feedback on performance.
Advanced skills in Excel together with sound experience within an ERP environment, are important. Experience with Pronto software will be well regarded.
Fluency in Mandarin would be well regarded but not essential.
