Purchasing / Sourcing Manager. in Manufacturing Jobs

A National leader and producer of packaging and consumables based products with a very wide range of industrial applications; our Melbourne-based client seeks an astute and strategically-oriented specialist with strong knowledge of the purchasing and supply function for this critical role. As an active Strategic Sourcing Purchasing manager you will report to the General Manager – Australia and NZ and be responsible for the smooth and cost effective supply of raw materials, bought in finished goods and packaging equipment and materials in support of the manufacturing and business operation. Your objective will be to ensure supply continuity at the best available prices; key tasks include optimizing raw material inventory levels and quality standards, minimizing waste and ensuring legislative compliance.
Ideally tertiary qualified in Purchasing, engineering or commerce, you understand the workings of the local markets and have experience of purchasing and supply practices and systems within a manufacturing environment. You should have exposure to MRP and SAP systems as they relate to procurement, an understanding of import/customs procedures and overseas and local freight alternatives.
